Interior minister discusses with PLO delegation situation in Yarmouk Camp

Damascus, SANA – Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Mohammad al-Shaar discussed on Wednesday with a delegation from the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) the situation in the Palestinian camps, particularly Yarmouk Camp near Damascus.

Al-Shaar said that the Syrian government has never budged on the situation in Yarmouk, describing its stance as “principled”.

He added that the Syrian government is continuously delivering aid to Palestinian people who left the camp for safe areas, indicating that wars, conflicts and strife in the region are linked to attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

Terrorism which has hit the Palestinian camps is targeting the Palestinian cause and destroying Syria which has always been the primary defender of all just causes, pointing out that Israel is the only beneficiary of terrorism to liquidate the Palestinian cause and to prevent the Palestinians from restoring their legitimate rights.

For his part, head of the PLO delegation Zakaraya al-Agha said that the meeting discussed the difficulties facing Palestinian refugees and the Palestinian camps in Syria which had been overrun by gunmen and used as a springboard for terrorist operations which, he said, has threatened the presence of Palestinians in Syria.

It is necessary that gunmen and terrorist organizations exit the camp, the Palestinian official added.

The PLO has opted, since day one of the crisis, to stand by the Syrian state in order to solve the Palestinian issue, pointing out that the Palestinians have a clear stance about keeping the camps away from the crisis in Syria.
