Damascus, SANA- An Iranian parliamentary delegation, headed by Dr. Abbas Kalro, Deputy Chairman of Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, arrived in Damascus on Tuesday evening to stand by Syrian people in confronting the repercussions of devastating earthquake that has hit some Syrian provinces recently.
“This visit comes in order to provide relief assistance for the affected areas, and to strengthen and boost the joint parliamentary relations and activate cooperation agreements, especially in the economic domain,” Dr. Abbas told SANA upon his arrival at Damascus International Airport.
He added that Iranian Shura Council and Syrian People’s Assembly have held many joint meetings over the past two years to develop parliamentary work, and thus during this visit they will be followed up with Syrian officials
For her part, Vice-Chairman of Syrian-Iranian Friendship Committee, Dr. Haifa Juma’a, affirmed that Iran has provided all kinds of support for the Syrian people and sent delegations and relief supplies for the earthquake-affected people, adding that both sides look forwards to developing and strengthening parliamentary relations
Iranian Ambassador in Damascus, Mahdi Sobhani and a number of People’s Assembly members received the Iranian delegation at the airport.
