Mikdad: Victory in Aleppo set the stage for prelude of end of Western states’ sick dreams

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad said that the victory in Aleppo has set the stage for the prelude of the end of Western states’ sick and diabolical dreams, affirming that Syria will be victorious no matter how much support they give to terrorist groups.

Speaking to Al-Manar TV on Saturday, Mikdad said that the Western forces and the terrorist groups were focusing on Aleppo in order to use it as a base for expanding into the rest of Syria and to try and subject Syria and the entire region to Western conspiracies and Turkish plots.

He affirmed that the Syrian government supports Syrian-Syrian dialogue without foreign interference and without preconditions, and that it supports resuming it at any time as long as it’s conducted with forces that are active on the ground and with impartial mediators, adding that Syria welcomes initiatives that lead to resolving the crisis in Syria.

The Deputy Minister stressed that Russia is most committed to the concepts of Syria’s sovereignty and independence and non-interference in its internal affairs.

Regarding relations with Turkey, Mikdad said “What mistake did the Syrian Arab Republic do in its relations with Turkey? We opened our borders and we said that we respect the Turkish people as brothers and friends, and we said that economic relations can reach the highest levels, but what was Turkey’s response? They conspired against Syria, shed Syrian blood, and more than that, they allied themselves with ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organizations to kill Syrians, therefore there’s no longer a mutual language, and thus the Turkish government has lost, and not the Turkish people.”

He also hoped that international organization would fulfill their honest humanitarian role in reality and to care for Syrian citizens no matter where they are regardless of geography and politics, and that they would be able to fulfill their humanitarian role as they claim, and not like how they ignored the suffering of the people in Kefraya and al-Fouaa towns.
