Provinces, SANA – 2334 10th grade students from all provinces participated on Sunday in the tests of Syrian Science Olympiad in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics.

The tests are organized by the Education Ministry, in cooperation with the National Commission for the Syrian Science Olympiad and the Revolutionary Youth Union, for the students who qualified from areas level to provinces level.

All students across the provinces took the two-hour exams at the same time and answered questions set by the central scientific committees at the Syrian Science Olympiad. Once they are done, the scientific sub-committees in the provinces started to mark exam papers and calculate total score.

Touring test centers, Education Minister Hazwan al-Waz highlighted the importance of these competitions in determining students’ weakness points and training requirements in order to build a generation of creative youth.

Head of the National Commission for the Syrian Science Olympiad Imad al-Azb said that today’s tests represent the third stage of the competitions, after which the winners will qualify for the finals due to be held by the beginning of 2017 where the excellent students will be selected to represent Syria in the international Olympiads .

A number of students participating in the tests said they hope to achieve positive results on the national and international levels.

Today’s tests included the provinces of Damascus, Quneitra, Daraa, Sweida, Homs, Hama, Lattakia, Tartous, Aleppo, Deir Ezzor and Hasaka.

On November 13th, some 25,875 10th students from all provinces took part in the tests of Syrian Science Olympiad conducted for those qualified from schools level to areas level.

The International Mathematical Olympiad will be held in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, the International Physics Olympiads in Indonesia, the International Chemistry Olympiad in Thailand, the International Informatics Olympiad in Iran, and the International Biology Olympiad in UK.
