Damascus, SANA – Ambassador of Cuba in Damascus Rogerio Manuel Santana Rodriguez on Thursday met the Syrian delegation which visited Cuba early this month with the former stressing the strength of the Syrian-Cuban relations, particularly in the educational sector.
The Ambassador, in a statement to SANA, said that the Syrian delegation’s visit to Cuba, its participation in Havana International Trade Fair and the signing of a Memo of Understanding between the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce (FSCC) and Cuba Chamber of Commerce provide an evidence on the efforts exerted by the two countries to boost trade and economic relations.
He underlined the Syrian Economy and Foreign Trade Ministry’s unremitting efforts to facilitate trade exchange between Syria and Cuba, underlining the important role of the Cuban Embassy in exchanging information and views between businessmen in the two countries in order to expand cooperation in different domains, especially the pharmaceutical industries.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the possibility of exchanging products such as olive oil, fruits, citrus and medicines, said Abdul-Nasser Shafie member of the Regional Leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist Part and Head of the Syria-Cuba Friendship Association, adding that this visit has laid a strong foundation for further deepening cooperation in political, economic, health and cultural fields.
The recently-signed Memo of Understanding provided for finding mechanisms to exchange views and information about improving trade exchange, organizing visits for businessmen and commercial missions of both sides and participating in exhibitions, seminars, and conferences held at both countries.
