Damascus, SANA – Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries honored the well-known artist Duraid Lahham during a symposium held within the 32nd edition of the festival.
A long documentary film summing up some stages of Lahham’s life was screened.
Lahham, who is a leading Syrian comedian and director born 1934 in Damascus, said he was excited about the film, which is directed by the Egyptian Maji Anwar.
The famous Syrian actor, who grew up in poverty, gave advise to young actors to be patient as they will have to endure so many failures before achieving real success.
At the end of the symposium, head of the festival presented a special honorary shield to Lahham for his participation in this year’s edition and for his works.
Lahham was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador to the Middle East and North Africa region in 1999.
Syria is taking part in the festival within five events out of six. A number of drama series and movie makers also are among the juries.
