Drone and robot projects displayed at Research Science Conference in Lattakia

Lattakia, SANA – The Research Science Conference kicked off on Thursday at the central library of Tishreen University in Lattakia with the participation of 200 students from the National Center for Distinguished Students.

The participants will present 40 projects related to one of the sciences taught at the center, including mathematics, biology, informatics, robotics among others.

At the opening ceremony, a drone design project, carried out by the students Adnan Saud, Nada Salman, Sara Habeeb and Ali Riyahi and supervised by the engineer Ali Gneidi, was displayed.

The students explained the work mechanism of the drone, which they started to design last year using the principles of control and electronics.

After several trials, they managed to design a lightweight model by using more speedy engines and easier control basics.

The students reviewed their drone’s main uses, including taking pictures and pinpointing targets, noting that their model is not final as it needs more modifications and adjustments to make it lighter and more able to accomplish additional functions.

The drone has four fans and can handle 2 kg of load. It can be remote-controlled and soar to 50m height for half an hour.

Another project representing a robot made by the students Maram Ahmad, Adeeb Batous, Bashar Deeb and Ahmad Ahmad was displayed. The robot can observe any moving object according to definite track and is equipped with laser to dig the right track.

Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Amer al-Mardini said at the opening of the conference that the center’s students and graduates will be the pillars on which Syria will depend for reconstruction.

He pointed out that Higher Education Ministry is keen to take care of these distinguished and excellent students through cooperation with the Distinction and Creativity Agency to invest these talents and put them on the right track to help in building a brighter future for the country.

The students participating in the conference will be tested for their projects, which will be studied and assessed by cadres and committees from Tishreen University and the National Center for Distinguished Students.
