Palmyra, SANA – Palmyra city rises again from the ashes in spite of all the destruction, vandalism, and looting committed by ISIS in it. More than 500 musicians participated in the “Sun Gate” festivity held at the historic Roman amphitheater of the ancient city of Palmyra in commemoration of one hundredth anniversary of Martyrs day and in salute to the heroes of the Syrian Arab army who sacrificed their souls to Liberate the city from ISIS terrorists.
Walking down the street leading to the theater, the visitors recalled memories of ISIS terrorists’ heinous crimes against Palmyra’s residents and the execution of 25 individuals shot by teenagers before they committed the most brutal crime of hanging the researcher Khaled al-Assad and mutilating his body.
Confused feelings, a combination of sorrow, pain and pride, the arrivals expressed their happiness to be in such great city despite the systematic destruction and massacres it witnessed at the hands of ISIS terrorists.
Musicians form the Syrian National Symphony, the National Ensemble for Arabic Music, Mari Orchestra, and al-Farah Choir performed several music pieces and songs dedicated to the soul of Syria’s martyrs.
Maestro Misak Bagbodrian stressed that Palmyra constitutes an important episode of Syria’s long-lasting history. It is time to reopen the gate so that the Syria’s sun will rise again and its light will shine all over the world.
Maestro Bagbodrian described the standing on the Amphitheater’s stage as “a dream which has come true”, adding that the concert conveys a message that Syria will remain the country of culture, life and civilization despite terrorism and wars.
He expressed hope that the next concert will be in Aleppo city and the other Syrian cities which are still suffering from the brutality and cruelty of terrorism.
For his part, the Syrian artist Mustafa al-Khani said that “We are here today to say that Syria still stand steadfast thanks to the determination and strong will of its people.”
In turn, Director al-Muhannad Kalthoum said that it is an “extraordinary” day where the Syrian people, once again, stress their steadfastness and insistence to preserve their identity, civilization and homeland.
More than 100 journalist representing 50 media outlets, including European and American reporters, expressed astonishment at the splendid scene of Palmyra’s ancient ruins and considered the festivity as a stress on Syria’s victory over terror.
