Ambassador Haddad stresses need of unifying int’l efforts to combat cross-border terrorism

Moscow, SANA – Syria’s Ambassador in Moscow Riad Haddad affirmed the importance of unifying international efforts to combat terrorism and drain its resources, noting that the terrorism is a cross-border threat.

During a meeting of the representatives of member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Moscow on Thursday, the ambassador pointed out that the terrorism war on Syria over the past five years has highlighted that the terror threat cannot be limited within the frontiers of a certain country as it is spreading widely across the world.


Russia’s effective participation in support of the Syrian army and people will definitely help in eliminating terrorism on Syrian soil, said Haddad.

The ambassador pointed out that the objectives of the Collective Security Treaty to promote regional and international peace and security and defend the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of members states have been proven correct in light of the catastrophic repercussions of manufacturing terrorism, especially in the Middle East region.

The ambassador met the Secretary General of the CSTO Nikolai Bordeuja and said discussions touched upon the political situation in Syria and the region and the attempt made by some regional powers to foil the Syrian-Syrian dialogue in Geneva lately.Ambassador Haddad - CSTO Meeting 2

Haddad noted that Bordeuja shared his views that Saudi Arabia and Turkey are seeking ground intervention in Syria for the sake of trying to save the terrorist organizations and not fighting ISIS in Syria.
