Patriarch Kirill reiterates Russians’ solidarity with Syria

Moscow, SANA – Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia stressed that the Russian Orthodox Church and the entire people of Russia support the Syrian people against the international terrorism.

During a meeting with Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East Mar Ignatius Aphram II in Moscow on Tuesday, Patriarch Kirill said the Russian Orthodox Church is sending, on regular bases, humanitarian aids to the Syrian people, adding “the Christians in the Middle East are currently living in harsh circumstances similar to the situation centuries ago when the earlier Christians were oppressed by the Romans.”

In turn, Patriarch Aphram II expressed appreciation for Russia’s support to the Syrian people, expressing confidence that the Syrian Army will eradicate terrorism and clear all the Syrian lands from the mercenary terrorists.
