Demirtas: Turkey should immediately stop its support to terrorist organizations in Syria

Ankara, SANA- leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Turkey Selahattin Demirtas stressed the necessity of immediately halting the support provided by Turkish government to the terrorist organizations in Syria as a main condition to restore the foreign relations of the new Turkish Government to their normal status.

In an interview with CNN TV Monday, Demirtas said “This demand is a main condition to form any governmental coalition between the Justice and Development Party “AKP” and any of the three political parties.”dermitas

HDP on Sunday became the first-ever political party with Kurdish roots to enter Turkey’s parliament as a party after it easily cleared the 10 percent threshold required by taking 13, 5 % of the votes, depriving the AKP from acquiring sweeping new powers and forming a single party government and dealing a strong blow to Erdogan’s dreams of imposing a constitutional change on Turkey and transforming its regime from a parliamentary to a presidential.

He indicated that the three parties who won in the elections will not rush in taking any decision with regard to forming the future governments due to the complicated situation of the political balances at the Turkish Parliament.

Turkish Republican People’s Party (CHP) led by Kamal Klijdar Ihsanoglu ranked second with 25,1% of the votes and took 132 seats, while the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) led by Devlet Bahceli won the third position with 16,4 % and took 81 seats.

Demirtas described his party’s winning in the parliamentary elections as “historic and would greatly affect the political calculations with regard to the Kurdish issue internally and regionally.”
