Damascus, SANA – Students of Secondary school (high school) in the terrorists-besieged Yarmouk Camp neighborhood have been evacuated on Saturday to take final exams of the 12th grade, scheduled on June 1.
Besieged by terrorists since 2012, the neighborhood, which is located in southern Damascus, yet came under an attack, this time by terrorists of the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq (ISIS), in cahoots with Jabhat al-Nusra early last April.
Thousands of the residents had to leave their homes to flee ISIS atrocities. Many of those were moved to neighboring areas like Yalda, Babila and Bait Sahm towns, where they were accommodated in makeshift places.
The evacuation today was carried out through Yalda route, as it was the case when Basic Education students were evacuated on May 14.
Both operations were carried out by the General Authority for Palestine Arab Refugees (GAPAR) and the United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA), supported by the Syrian government and the Higher Committee for Relief.
GAPAR Director-General Ali Mustafa told SANA that the students, and those who accompanied them, will be fully taken care of.
