Tanzanian Prime Minister: Syria is targeted due to its stances

Dar es Salaam, SANA- Chargé d’affaires of the Syrian embassy in Tanzania Abd al-Min’em Anan met on Thursday with Tanzanian Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda on the sidelines of a Syrian trade expo which was held in the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam.

Anan welcomed the prime minister’s visit to the expo, hailing the deep historical relations between the two countries and praising the Tanzanian authorities’ cooperation for making the expo a success.

The Chargé d’affaires also touched on the challenges that Syria is facing due to terrorist organizations backed by some countries.

For his part, Tanzanian Prime Minister said that there are broad prospects for economic cooperation with Syria, stressing the importance of exchanging visits which he said is beneficial for discussing the possibility of trade exchange between both countries.

Syria is targeted due to the Syrian leadership’s struggle to achieve actual independence from west, particularly in the economic domain, he said.

The Syrian trade expo was held in Dar es Salaam between April 24th and May 11th.
