Damascus, SANA – Electricity Ministry signed Thursday a MoU with the German BARO International company to establish a new electricity generating station.
The plant will be of 360 megawatt capacity and will be run on gas.
Deputy Electricity Minister Nidal Qarmousheh said in a statement to SANA that this project is the starting point of constructive cooperation with the German side in the field of power generation using conventional energy sources.
Head of the Board of Directors of BARO International Richard Wagner, for his part, expressed the company’s readiness to cooperate with the Syrian side in establishing more power generating plants, whether using gas or wind turbines and renewable energy sources.
