Moscow, SANA – UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura will not take part in a second round of inter-Syrian talks in the Russian capital Moscow, according to de Mistura’s Office Director Khawla Matar.
Details related to holding another round of inter-Syrian consultations in Moscow have been discussed, with a date for the meetings is expected on April 6-9.
The first round of talks was held on January 26-29 and brought together representatives of the Syrian government and opposition figures and parties.
Matar was quoted by the Russian Sputnik news agency as saying that de Mistura had received an invitation for the talks from the Russian side but he is not going to attend.
She added that there is discussion at the Envoy’s Office about its participation and representation to Moscow meetings.
The level of this representation will be determined by de Mistura’s Office, as it is still talking with the Russian side to know details about the meetings.
