Sabbagh, Pedersen discuss the situation in the region and the facilities offered for those arriving from Lebanon

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister Bassam Sabbagh met Sunday United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen.

During the meeting, the escalating situation in the region resulting from the Israeli aggression on Syria and Lebanon was discussed, which forced hundreds of thousands of Syrians and Lebanese to flee into Syria to escape the hell of the Israeli killing machine.

In this regard, Minister Sabbagh presented the facilities provided by the Syrian government to respond to this emergency humanitarian situation, despite the difficult circumstances that Syria is going through, which have been exacerbated by the unilateral coercive, illegal and inhumane measures imposed by US and the European Union on Syrians.

United Nations should assume its responsibilities to stop the violations and crimes of the Israeli entity and its repeated attacks on Syrian territory, Sabbagh stressed.

For his part, Pedersen welcomed the efforts made by the Syrian government and the facilities provided to those arriving from Lebanon, stressing respect for Syria’s sovereignty and the unity and integrity of its territories.
