Minsk, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Bassam Sabbagh, discussed on Wednesday with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Natalia Kochanova, bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly the development of parliamentary ties.
Minister Sabbagh stressed that popular parliamentary diplomacy has become an important part of public diplomacy in any country, adding that members of the parliaments who are elected directly by the people are the most capable of expressing the interests and concerns of the people in a transparent and realistic manner.
He highly appreciated the true friendly and partnership relation between the two countries, which helps them confront common challenges, most notably the attempts to interfere in their domestic affairs and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on their people, which cause great human suffering.
In turn, Kochanova conveyed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenka’s thanks to Syria for being a strong and sincere partner to Belarus at the international arena in facing challenges, expressing her country’s interest in cooperating with Syria in all political, economic, commercial, cultural and humanitarian fields.
