Finland calls on EU to impose more sanctions on “Israel”

Helsinki, SANA- Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen called Tuesday on the European Union to impose more sanctions on “Israel”, against the backdrop of its escalation of tension in the Middle East.

That came in statements Valtonen made to reporters after participating in a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg, on current developments in the Middle East.

Valtonen said that discussions on expanding sanctions against “Israel” are ongoing within the European Union, adding that such a decision can only be taken with the approval of all members.

She added that ” a clear step must be taken against Israel after its escalation of tension in the region.”

Valtonen noted that the sanctions imposed by the European Union on settlers who usurped Palestinian lands, early in 2024, can be expanded to include Israeli officials as well.
