Haidar: Any change in international attitudes towards the crisis in Syria must be translated into real policies on the ground

Damascus, SANA- State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Dr. Ali Haidar said that any change in international attitudes towards the crisis in Syria must be translated into real policies on the ground.

During his meeting with Czech ambassador to Syria Eva Filipi, Haidar said that Europeans must stand by Syria’s counter-terrorism drive as there is “a race between a cultural project to get Syria out of its crisis led by the Syrian government and the friendly supporting countries, and an American project to achieve the maximum amount of devastation, destruction and killing in it.”

Haidar said the West needs to realize that some of those who call themselves “opposition” are mere tools in the hands of the Americans, not representatives of the Syrian people, considering that the United States is one of the parties that benefit most from what is going on in Syria and the region.

In turn, Ambassador Filipi hailed Syria’s historical and cultural role, urging European politicians to change their policies towards Syria and to realize the reality of what is going on.

In a press statement after the meeting, Haidar expressed appreciation for Czech’s attitudes towards the crisis in Syria, noting that Ambassador Filipi hasn’t left Damascus and insisted to convey the true image of what is happening in Syria to her country and through it to the European Union and the entire world.

Commenting on national reconciliation processes, Minister Haidar said: ” Terrorist acts led to the disruption and delay of reconciliations in some areas, whereas there is progress in local reconciliations that are going on in Damascus countryside especially in al-Husainia area that are thought to pave the way for new reconciliations in other areas.”
