Czech UNESCO Commission condemns terrorists’ destruction of Syrian and Iraqi archeology

Prague, SANA- Czech Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization /UNESCO/ vehemently condemned Sunday the acts of robbery, looting and sabotage of historical ancient ruins in Syria and Iraq perpetrated by terrorists of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria /ISIS/.

” These ruins represent part of the global heritage of humanity and the acts of sabotaging and stealing them are barbaric behaviors” the commission said in statement.

The commission called on the international community for taking legal and deterrent measures to fight illegal ruins trade and transportation from Syria and Iraq and sell them to terrorists.

The commission expressed concern over the practices of ”ISIS” and” Jabhat al-Nusra” and other terrorist organizations, such as getting money through looting and smuggling antiquities from libraries, museums and excavations.

Terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria play a systematic and planned-role backed by regional and international sides, in destroying the two countries’ infrastructure and ruins.
