Mikdad to UNDOF: UN has to intervene and stop Israeli occupation practices in Golan

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad on Wednesday underlined the necessity for halting the Israeli occupation practices against Syrian citizens in the occupied Syrian Golan and their repeated attacks on Syrian territories.

Mikdad, meeting Major General Nirmal  Kumar Thapa, the Commander of United Nations Disengagement Observer Force in Golan (UNDOF), said Syria supports the UN team in order to fully implement its aspired-for tasks in the region, calling on the UN to intervene and stop the Israeli occupation practices against the Syrian citizens in Golan  and their repeated attacks on Syrian territories.

“The hostile acts of the occupation and its violation of the international law rules poses threat to the region’s security, “said Mikdad, reaffirming Syria’s right to restore Golan to the line of June 4th, 1967 according to UN relevant resolutions.

General Thapa, for his part, stressed UNDOF commitment to carry out its custody and observe the cease-fire line, appreciating Syria’s support in this domain.
