Vershinin, Pedersen discuss the latest developments in Syria

New York, SANA- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin met the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen in New York and discuss the latest developments in Syria.

The topics focused on the prospects for a political process carried out by the Syrian people themselves without external interference, on the basis of respect for Syria’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The statement noted that the two parties also discussed the urgent humanitarian issues, including overcoming the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that occurred in February, with an emphasizing on not to politicize providing aid.
