Information minister underlines role of investigative journalism in serving citizens

Damascus, SANA-Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi stressed the necessity of creating a unit for investigative journalism in every media establishment to shed light on issues of concern to citizens.

In a workshop dedicated to discuss the role of investigative journalism in developing the performance of institutions and combating corruption, the minister said: “Investigative journalism aims to serve citizens and unmask the environments conducive to corruption.”

He said the ministry is ready to offer whatever facilitations necessary for journalists to prepare investigative reports. Participant journalists reviewed the difficulties hindering their work while preparing investigative reports, calling for outlining a strategy to qualify investigative journalists.
