Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad discussed on Wednesday with Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Rola Dashti aspects of cooperation between the Syrian government and ESCWA.
Minister Mikdad hailed the standing cooperation between the two sides and the efforts exerted by ESCWA to deal with the national priorities and needs through continuous coordination with the Syrian authorities concerned, appreciating the positive fruits resulting from this coordination.
He called for increasing and enhancing cooperation in different domains, particularly in light of the conditions resulting from the terrorist war on Syria and the economic, unilateral coercive measures, which negatively affect the lives and economic conditions of the Syrian people.
Dashti, for her part, expressed appreciation for the standing cooperation between the Syrian government and ESCWA, the facilities and support offered by Syria to the work of the organization in the country.
She briefed Mikdad on the current work plans and the possibilities of expanding them during the next period, stressing keenness to coordinate with the Syrian authorities concerned to achieve progress in the programs and projects within the framework of the national needs.
