Syria, India discuss means of enhancing bilateral relations

Damascus, SANA- Prime Minister, Eng. Hussein Arnous, on Wednesday discussed with Indian Ambassador in Damascus Mahender Singh Kanyal, means of enhancing and developing bilateral relations in the technical, industrial, scientific, cultural and health fields, and capacity-building, human resources and scholarships, in addition to cooperation in the field of renewable energies and information technologies.

Eng. Arnous stressed the importance of activating the work of the Syrian-Indian joint committee, implementing MoUs and bilateral agreements, and completing cooperation projects to serve the common interest and reflect the deep-rooted historical relations between the two friendly countries and peoples.

Arnous also expressed thanks to India’s leadership, government and people for their supportive stances to Syria in international forums and rejection of the unjust siege imposed on it and the attempts of external interference in its internal affairs.

The Prime Minister called on Indian companies to invest in Syria and contribute to the reconstruction, stressing Syria’s desire to move forward in strengthening relations with India and opening new prospects for the interest of both countries.

For his part, the Indian ambassador affirmed deep relations between the two countries, noting that India is committed to providing technical and humanitarian support to Syria, and contributing to capacity- building and human resource development according to the requirements and needs of Syria.
