Latest developments in Syria and region discussed in Vatican

Vatican, SANA –The situation in Syria and the latest regional and international developments, particularly in light of the growing dangers of terrorism against stability in the region and the world, were on the table during a meeting between Syria’s Ambassador to Vatican Hussam Eddin Ala and Secretary of State of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, on Sunday.

Cardinal Parolin expressed Pope Francis’s care for the situation in Syria and his concern over the risks targeting its people, especially in the humanitarian field due to the terrorist acts and violence targeting them.

He stressed that dialogue among the Syrians is the only solution for the crisis in Syria.

Ala appreciated the Pope’s role and prayers for peace to prevail in Syria, lauding his rejection of the foreign interference and threats against Syria.

He pointed out that the regional and international developments prove the correctness of Syria’s stance as it has warned against the risks of the terrorism that will fall back on its supporters.

He asserted that combating terrorism necessitates collaborating all regional and international efforts to oblige the countries sponsoring terrorism to abide by the UN Security Council’s relevant resolutions, particularly Nos. 2170 and 2178.

Ambassador Ala stressed that the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab army in facing the armed terrorist groups and the success of the national reconciliations’ efforts contribute to restoring stability to many areas and creating an appropriate atmosphere to launch a national dialogue among the Syrians that fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian people away from foreign interferences and agendas.
