Damascus, SANA- The first training laboratory in Syria for preclinical microscopic treatments was opened today at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Damascus, at an estimated cost of SYP 160 million.
The laboratory includes eight stations, each containing an advanced microscope device, a thermal filler device, an automatic preparation device for cannulae and / machines / dedicated to cosmetic preparation and special devices for treatments using ultrasound.
The laboratory will provide training and educational services for postgraduate students / masters and PhD / in the specializations of endodontic, reconstructive, dental and maxillofacial surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, periodontal diseases, pediatric dentistry, oral medicine and fixed dental prostheses.
Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, affirmed in a statement to reporters after the opening of the lab, that the opening the laboratory comes within the framework of the continuous modernization and development that Damascus University undertakes for all its scientific laboratories and equipment to provide the best pre-clinical training services to students.
Minister Ibrahim expressed hope that the laboratory will be one of the important tools for students of postgraduate studies in order to carry out scientific research related to the practical reality.
Dr. Mohammad Osama al-Jabban, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Damascus, explained in a similar statement that microscopic treatments constitute an important stage before the stage of clinical work.
Al-Jabban added that work under magnification opens new horizons in dentistry and increases accuracy in work as good vision makes treatments more successful, indicating that the laboratory which has been put into service will provide an appropriate and qualitative training for all postgraduate students at the faculty whose number is 869 male and female students.
Ruaa al-Jazaeri
