Procedures to protect health staffs enhanced to face any new COVID-19 outbreak

Damascus, SANA- Health Ministry on Wednesday launched a campaign to enhance the procedures of protecting the heath workers in the framework of its preparation to contain any probable new COVID-19 outbreak or any increase in infection numbers.

Health Minister Hassan al-Ghabbash said in a statement to journalists that all requirements of protection and preventive individual means were secured for health staffs, stressing the necessity of commitment of those staffs in all governorates’ hospitals and places of work to use them.

Al-Ghabbash clarified that the Ministry of Technology and Communications provided health staffs with free offers to stay on constant communications with their work places and to keep up-to-date with the latest international studies and researches in terms related to COVID-19 and the treatment protocols certified locally and internationally.

“We are ready in case of any new wave of COVID-19 has occurred, and we have taken all required means to protect the health and safety of the health staffs and offer the appropriate care for patients” The Minister said.

About the availability of the seasonal influenza’s vaccine for citizens, the Minister added that the medicine is right now available only for the patients with weak immune system such as the diabetics registered in the Ministry’s health centers and will be provided to enhance their immunity.

Al-Ghabbash said that despite the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, the ministry was able, during the past period, to raise its laboratories’ readiness in addition to making the private sector a partner in conducting novel COVID-19 tests  along with sharing hospitals of the Higher Education in offering all the required services in this domain.

The Health Ministry, within its procedures taken to contain any new probable campaign of COVID-19 , equipped, on Oct 12, an emergency hospital at Al-Fayhaa Sports Complex which is fit for 120 bed to receive cases infected with COVID-19 of medium symptoms.
