New York, SANA-Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, said that the continued coercive economic measures imposed by western states on Syria and hindering efforts to include the Security council’s latest resolution, about bringing in aid through borders, any indications to these measures prove once again the falseness of their allegations that their measures don’t target the Syrian civilians.
“The motive behind all that is to find pretexts to continue violation of Syria’s sovereignty, threaten its territorial integrity, supporting the terrorist organizations and the separatist militias,” al-Jaafari added during a Security council session via video conference on the humanitarian situation in Syria.
“The Security council has witnessed this month a western feverish endeavors to extend the effects of resolution 2165 for 2014 related to brining in aids through borders… the motive behind that is not to bring in aids to needy people, but to continue violation of Syria’s sovereignty, threaten its territorial integrity which contradict with the General Assembly Resolution No. 46/182,” al-Jaafari affirmed.
Al-Jaafari said Syria has repeatedly informed the United Nations of the health sector suffering from a major shortage in medicine , yarns, surgical materials and medical equipment due to the illegal coercive measures imposed on the country.
He indicated that Syria informed the United Nations on April 14th with its approval to run a humanitarian aid convoy to the area of al-Atarib and its surroundings in northwest Syria. But even today, after 100 days later ,the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) did not take any steps to implement that move.
Al-Jaafari stressed Syria’s stance that the humanitarian work center is in Damascus, not in Gaziantep in Turkey Belgian Brussels, Germany’s Berlin, France Paris or not in any other place.
“The main burden in providing humanitarian aid, services and support for the Syrians are assumed by the institutions of Syria, its allies and partners in the humanitarian work, noting that (OCHA) failed to meet humanitarian work requirements or guaranteeing not to politicize it, its transparency, professionalism and neutrality, as it has made itself a tool to serve the agendas of some countries hostile to Syria,” al-Jaafari said.
He reaffirmed the content of the official complaint that Syria addressed last May to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and President of the Security Council against practices of Some Member States, on top, the United States, Britain, France and Turkey, particularly in regards to the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria and other developing countries, in addition to their occupation of Syrian lands.
Al-Jaafari indicated that countries hostile to Syria didn’t stop at their documented grave violations of the principles and provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and international law nor they stopped their crimes against the Syrian people, plundering and destroying the country’s resources and besieging and starving it, but they increased all what has been mentioned to launch aggression on civil passenger planes that cross the Syrian airspace in a flagrant violation of international law, rules governing international civil aviation and the Chicago Convention .This was reflected by the US fighter jet attack on a civil flight which carries Civilian travelers onboard from Tehran to Beirut over Syrian airspace.
