Homs production of fig expected to reach 2,912 tons

Homs, SANA- Homs Agriculture Department said that the province’s production of fig crops is expected to reach 2,912 tons for the current season, adding that most of the areas cultivated with fig are rainfed, indicating that fig trees are planted over an area of 2,719 dunums.

Head of Homs Agriculture Directorate Nazih al-Refaie, in a statement to SANA reporter, said that the total number of irrigated fig trees is 8,093 of which 7,863 are fruitful while the total number of the rainfed fig trees in the province is estimated at 102,459 trees of which 97,335 trees are fruitful.

Homs production of fig crops last season amounted to 1,570 tons.
