Syria participates in Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition 2019

Damascus, SANA-  The Syrian companies have achieved a notable presence in Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 currently held in the Chinese capital city of Beijing under the title “Green Life, Better Life” with the participation of more than 110 Arab and foreign states and organizations.

The Syrian pavilion at the Expo extends over an area of 200 square meters with the participation of a number of the elite Syrian companies which are specialized in tourism, agriculture and handicrafts.

On the participation of the Ministry of Tourism in the Expo, Assistant Minister of Tourism Bassam Barsik noted that the Ministry worked in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Syrian Embassy in China to design the Syrian pavilion according to the traditional folkloric style.

Barsik added that choosing the traditional folkloric design was with the aim of attracting media and tourists as the pavilion was decorated with a number of paintings and photos of the most important tourist sites in Syria, in addition to some of the archeological antiques.

He noted that a number of craftsmen were sent to participate in the exhibition with the aim of introducing the traditional handicrafts and industries in Syria, in addition to a number of films and promotional materials in the Chinese language with the aim of achieving an effective participation that would attract tourists whether from China or other states.

The importance of Syria’s participation in the Expo according to Barsik comes from the fact that it constitutes an opportunity to shed light on the culture image of Syria and its archeological sites and its competitive industry in a way that would contribute to opening new markets for it and invigorate its economy.

The Expo started activities on April 29 and it will continue until October 7th . The exhibition covers an area of 503 hectares at the foot of China’s Great Wall and is expected to attract 16 million visitors from around the world. The event is considered as an important global station for economic and cultural exchanges and business.
