Lavrov underlines necessity of eliminating terrorism in Syria, finding a political solution to crisis

Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed the necessity of eliminating terrorism in Syria and finding a political solution to the crisis in it.

Lavrov, in a statement in Moscow on Wednesday, underlined the importance of Astana track and the outcomes of the Intra-Syrian National Dialogue to reach a political settlement to the crisis in Syria.

Lavrov added that the nonconstructive approach adopted by some states doesn’t serve the international security and stability, noting that the joint work on the basis of the international laws and principles is the only way to solve the international crises.

11 meetings have been held on the crisis in Syria in framework of Astana format, one of them was held in the Russian city of Sochi, and all of them underlined firm adherence to preserving Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and to continuing the fight against terrorism till eradicating it completely.

The Syrian-Syrian National Dialogue Congress held in Sochi on January 2018 also affirmed full adherence to Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
