Damascus, SANA – Deputy Health Minister Habib Aboud said that shipments of baby milk arrived in Syria and were distributed to stocks in different provinces after analyzing samples to ensure its safety.
Aboud clarified to SANA that the shipments include 27200 boxes of Nestle, NAN1 and NAN2 brands reached stocks and they cover the needs for three months, pointing out that nine companies will produce several brands in ten days.
He said that the main reason of the non-availability of baby milk is the unilateral foreign economic procedures on Syria, being imposed on the importers to transfer the substance to several countries before its reach to the local markets.
Aboud revealed that a sustainable solution for the problem is localizing the industry in Syria, adding that three licenses are now being studied for the industry.
The Deputy Health Minister said that “disciplinary sanctions will be taken against any warehouse or pharmacy that monopolize children’s milk or commits a price violation “, calling on pharmacists to achieve justice in the sale of the material away from storage for long periods.
