Dubai, SANA – Syrian Expat Runner Imad Barakat ranked third at the World’s Longest Desert Ultra Marathon organized at al-Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve in Dubai, with the participation of champions from 50 states.
Barakat came in the 3rd place and earned the bronze medal in 50-km race.
In a statement to SANA, Barakat said that he is preparing for an unprecedented adventure to run continuously from Slovakia to Damascus, a distance estimated at 3700 km, passing through tens of European cities.
Runner Imad Barakat was born in Damascus, 1963. He won title of the 250-km Marathon des Sables, held in southern Morocco in 2013 and came in the 2nd place at the 165km Oman Desert Marathon for 4 times.
