Massive gathering in Quneitra in support of Golan locals’ rejection of so-called “local councils’ elections”

Quneitra, SANA- Hundreds of Syrians on Tuesday gathered at al-Alam Roundabout in Quneitra City in solidarity with the Syrian people in occupied Syrian Golan and in support of their national stances in rejection of the so-called “local councils’ elections” which the Israeli occupation authorities are trying to impose on them .

Participants in the gathering, who came from different villages and towns in Quneitra  province and from different provinces, held a walk from al-Alam Roundabout towards al-Tahrir Square, carrying national flags and banners which affirm the Arabism of occupied Golan and inevitability of the return to the homeland sooner or later.

They hailed the national stances of the Syrians in occupied Golan and their adherence to their land and their belonging to their homeland Syria.

The participants also affirmed that all practices of the Israeli occupation are null and void and, that they don’t have any legal value, calling upon the international organizations, on top the Security Council, to practice their role in exerting pressure on Israel to cancel the elections and to force it to implement the 4th Geneva Convention.

In a statement to SANA, Golan’s Mayor Issam Sha’alan said that Golan has an Arab identity and the practices of the occupation will not undermine the steadfastness of the Syrians in occupied Golan who will continue their struggle and their standing in the face of all forms of Judaization.

For his part, liberated prisoner Ali al-Yunus said that Syrian people in occupied Golan will foil all the Israeli schemes as they foiled the decision of annexing the occupied Golan and of imposing the Israeli identity on its Syrian citizens in 1982.

The gathering and walk in Quneitra City came few hours after Syrians in occupied Golan held a sit-in on Tuesday morning in front of the Secondary School in Majdal Shams in occupied Golan in rejection of holding the so-called “local council’s elections” which will be held today and which the Israeli occupation authorities try to impose on them.
