112 thousand visitors to Damascus International Fair on its second day

Damascus, SANA- The second day of the 60th edition of Damascus International Fair witnessed a huge turnout by citizens who visited its pavilions and participated in its varied activities.

The media center of the fair said in a statement that since the first hours after the official opening of the fair on Thursday, the Fairgrounds witnessed a considerable turnout by Syrian citizens, Arab and foreign participants, in addition to a number delegations and businessmen who came to Syria to visit the fair.

According to the statement, the number of people who visited the fair on its second day reached more than 112 thousand, and a large number of local, Arab and foreign media outlets visited the fair as their number reached more than 183 media outlets.

On the occasion of launching the fair, a cycling marathon was launched on Thursday at 08:30 am from the Umayyad Square to the Fairgrounds.

On the second day of Damascus International Fair, two agreements were signed for exporting large amounts of vegetables and fruits to Russian companies with a value of USD 10 million.

The Child Theater presented a singing program by the children who participated in (The Voice Kids) program, in addition to a theatrical show dubbed (Smurfs Village).

In a statement to SANA at the conclusion of the second day of the Fair, Director of the General Establishment for International Fairs and Markets Fares Kartli said that the second day of the fair was distinguished and there were no deficiency in organizing it as the movement of the buses and trains and the entrance of the visitors were very easy.

Kartli indicated that a number of the official and economic figures visited the fair on Thursday, the most prominent of which was Abkhazian Prime Minister Gennady Gagulia.

The 60th edition of Damascus International Fair will remain open until September 15th. Its activities include musical performances by Syrian and Arab artists, folk dance performances, children’s plays, a special raffle, seminars and lectures, specialized exhibitions, and promotional offers by participating companies.

The Abkhazian band for folkloric dance and Arab singer Walid Tawfiq opened the artistic festival of Damascus International Fair amid a huge popular turnout.

During the first part of the activities of festival, members of the Abkhazian band reviewed their abilities and skills in performing folk dances which require high fitness and speed in performing the movements by dancers.

The dances narrate chapters about the traditional rural life and its rituals in the Caucasus area.

In the second part of the festival, Arab star Walid Tawfiq presented a number of old and new songs.
