Update – First batch of terrorists and their families leave Eastern Qalamoun area, terrorists turn over large amounts of weapons

Damascus Countryside, SANA – The first batch of terrorists left Eastern Qalamoun on Friday area on 35 buses as per the agreement reached on Friday for having terrorists and their families leave al-Rheibeh, Jairoud, and al-Nasseriyeh and head north.

SANA’s correspondent said that 35 buses carrying hundreds of terrorists and their families from al-Rheibeh, Jairoud, and al-Nasseriyeh towns have left the gathering point in al-Rheibeh and headed north in a convoy.

The deal comes after one day of declaring al-Dmair town in al-Qalamoun free from terrorists.

The correspondent also said that prior to leaving the towns, the terrorists handed over heavy and medium weapons, which included TOW and LAW rockets of US and Israeli make, in addition to more than 28 tanks, Shilka vehicles, and BMP armored vehicles.

The weapons also included 23mm and 24mm machineguns, Grad rockets, assorted stationary and shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, a large amount of assault rifles, NATO sniper rifles, artillery pieces, mortar launchers, tank shells, and large amounts of ammo, in addition to IEDs and tools for manufacturing them, state-of-the-art French and American communication devices, binoculars, and night vision goggles.

The correspondent added that while canvassing al-Batra’a and Be’r al-Afaie areas in Eastern Qalamoun, Syrian Arab Army units seized weapons, a field hospital, and a large cache of medicine.

In parallel with the implementation of the agreement in Eastern Qalamoun, units of the Syrian Arab Army are carrying out a military operation to eradicate the dens of terrorist organizations positioned in the south of Damascus as part of the ongoing war to combat terrorism in Damascus and its countryside.
