Cabinet discusses bills, calls ministries to support rural women’ products

Damascus, SANA- In its weekly session chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, the Cabinet discussed a number of services, development, economic, and educational issues.

The Cabinet discussed a bill amending some articles of the Law no.6 for 2006 on governing universities in terms of establishing a new mechanism for recruitment and promotion that ensures the quality of this process.

The Cabinet also discussed a bill amending article 4 of Law no.8 for 2008 about the doctors serving in the rural areas, so that doctors, dentists and pharmacists are exempt from rural service if they have completed two years in the military service in which they served within their specialization.

The Cabinet called the Ministries of Economy and Foreign Trade and Internal Trade and Consumer Protection to apply the rural women’s development projects in all provinces and develop a marketing plan for their products, as the Cabinet called on the Ministries of Industry and Agriculture to set up retail centers for the products of rural women in all provinces.

The Cabinet charged the Ministries of Public Works and Housing, Local Administration and Environment, and Tourism, along with the General Sports Federation and the General Establishment for Housing to set a timetable for restoring al-Assad Sports City in Lattakia to the way it was before the crisis in parallel with putting an investment plan for it.

The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ vision on the working mechanism of the Resources and Energy Committee and the projects that have been studied in order to provide oil derivatives for the local market.

The Cabinet demanded that the ministries evaluate the status of general managers who are commissioned by their respective ministers.
