Assistant Foreign Minister: The elimination of terrorism is basic necessity to find a way out of the crisis in Syria

Damascus, SANA- Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister Ayman Sousan discussed on Monday with the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Political Director at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Serbia Zoran Vujic, the developments in Syria and the region and the bilateral relations between the two counties.

During the meeting, Sousan affirmed that the terrorist aggression against Syria is a result of the policies of some international and regional powers which provide various forms of support for its terrorist pawns, which reveals the falsity of these forces’ claims and their lack of seriousness in fighting terrorism, which poses a serious threat to international peace and security, stressing that the elimination of terrorism is the basic necessity to find a way out of the current crisis in Syria.

He reiterated the determination of the Syrian people and the armed forces to defend Syria’s sovereignty and its independent decision-making, noting that Syria’s future belongs exclusively to the Syrian people and no one is allowed to interfere in its internal affairs.

For his part, Vujic expressed his country’s support for Syria in the face of terrorism and his hope for the return of security and stability to the region, stressing the need to abide by international law and respect for the sovereignty and unity of countries.

He added that Serbia appreciates Syria’s firm stance regarding the issue of Kosovo and its continued support for the territorial integrity of Serbia.

On bilateral relations, the two sides expressed the will and desire to enhance cooperation between them in all fields which would reflect positively on the friendly relations between them, in addition to the importance of exchanging visits between the two countries’ officials.
