Russia: draft resolution on Syria at UNSC biased and unacceptable

Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova affirmed on Wednesday that the draft resolution submitted by the United States, Britain and France to the UN Security Council on what it called the chemical attack on Khan Sheikhoun in Idleb countryside is biased and unacceptable.

“I wanted to note that the presented text of the resolution is categorically unacceptable. Its main problem is that it anticipates the results of the probe and immediately finds those to be blamed,” Zakharova said in a press conference.

She said that the draft resolution presented to the UN Security Council is obviously anti-Syrian nature and is capable of igniting an already difficult internal political situation in Syria and the region as a whole, adding that such steps are designed to complicate the process of talks, which are still at the beginning of its development.

Zakharova said that “the White Helmets” and “the Syrian Observatory” cannot be considered to be reliable sources as they have been repeatedly caught spreading fake reports on the situation.

She affirmed that Moscow will continue exerting efforts to settle the crisis in Syria, calling on all parties concerned to show an objective approach to evaluate events by deeds rather than words and to contribute to moving the political settlement and eliminating the terrorist threat.
