Oil Minister: Technical teams manage to restore all gas quantities to power generating stations after gas factory attack in Homs

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Ghanem said the technical teams affiliated to the Ministry have completed their work since yesterday and managed to restore the entire amount of gas produced from wells to the gas network affiliated to the power generating stations after the terrorist attack on Saturday.

In a statement to SANA, the minister added that partial repair works will continue to fix all damage caused by the terrorist attack which targeted the factory of the southern Central Region in the countryside of Homs province.

On Saturday, SANA reporter said ISIS terrorists positioned in al-Tadmuriyeh and al-Shoumariyeh Mountains targeted factory of the southern Central Region with a rocket shell which landed on the main pipeline.

The source added that the terrorist attack caused the injury of one worker, while the factory went out of service.

The ISIS terrorists also targeted with a number of rocket shells Ebla gas factory, causing material damage to the factory’s equipment.

Later, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Ghanem said in a statement that the Ministry’s maintenance teams have embarked on repairing the damage caused to the main pipeline of the gas factory of the southern Central Region, which is located in al-Furuqlus area in the eastern countryside of Homs.

The repair works have started after a fire that erupted in the main pipeline was contained, according to the Minister.

He earlier noted that the shelling attack that targeted the factory hit several key sites at the factory as well as the pipeline supplying the power generating plants.

He added that the gas factory, which supplies the electricity network with 6.6 million cubic meters of gas per day, went out of service due to the attack.
