Health Ministry and the WHO discuss means to improve response to health needs

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Health Nizar Yazigi discussed with the Resident Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) Elizabeth Hoff means to increase cooperation in the field of responding to increasing health demands and rehabilitating damaged hospitals and health centers.

The Minister said all facilitations are being provided to the WHO to ensure the improvement of response to the citizen’s growing health demands through rehabilitating the damaged health infrastructure according to priorities.

Hoff, for her part, expressed appreciation of the efforts put by the Ministry of Health to secure the necessary health care services on the national level.

She stressed the WHO’s readiness to continue providing technical support need for the Ministry’s efforts to help ensure that health services are delivered to all citizens, especially those affected by the crisis, in addition to contributing to repairing damaged health establishments.

The Health Ministry and the World Health Organizations signed in February of last year a joint work program for 2016 and 2017 that is focused on communicable and non-communicable diseases, enhancing health situation for people of different age categories, improving the health systems and developing capabilities to deal with emergencies and disasters.
