Maintenance workshops enter Ain al-Fija Spring to rehabilitate facility for the awaited re-pumping of water to Damascus

Damascus Countryside, SANA Maintenance workshops entered Sunday the water facility of Ain al-Fija Spring in Barada Valley (Wadi Barada) in Damascus Countryside to estimate the damage caused to the facility feeding the city of Damascus with water after terrorist organization members launched attacks on it.

Damascus Countryside Governor Alaa Ibrahim said that the repair teams have entered Ain al-Fija Spring to start the rehabilitation works, adding that there is a prompt plant for supplying Damascus with water from Ain al-Fija and Ain Haroush springs and the backup water wells until the huge damage caused to the water facility by terrorists is repaired.

Ibrahim added that the damage caused to the facility is huge and requires some time for finishing the reparation works and re-pumping water to Damascus fully.

The Governor confirmed that the militants who refused the settlement exited the area along with their families and headed to Idleb, while about 2000 persons have had their legal status settled during the last period and they are currently in Wadi Barada area.

He said that the returning of the families to their houses in Wadi Barada depends on the reconstruction process, as Damascus Countryside Governorate is currently working to assess the damage and the priority is to restore water and then the rehabilitation of damaged buildings.

He pointed out that work is underway to implement reconciliation in the Eastern Ghouta and Douma, adding that there are calls and large popular pressure to remove militants from those areas and restore services and state institutions in them and in all the areas of Damascus Countryside.

SANA reporter said that the repair teams entered the facility after engineering units of the Syrian Arab Army had demined the area of explosives and mines that were planted by terrorists.

He pointed out that the repair teams are doing the final estimation of the damages caused to the facility as to start promptly the rehabilitation works in preparation for re-pumping water to Damascus as soon as possible.

The Syrian Arab Army on Saturday restored stability to Ain al-Fija Spring area after encircling the terrorists and killing a number of them, most of whom belong to Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization and other organizations linked to foreign sides.
