Putin, Nazarbayev stress importance of Astana talks in pushing forward efforts to reach settlement in Syria

Moscow, SANA – Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev discussed on Saturday the importance of Astana talks for pushing forward the efforts to reach a settlement to the crisis in Syria.

According to Sputnik News Agency, the Kremlin’s press service stated that Putin and Nazarbayev, in a telephone call, underlined that “a serious momentum was given to the peace settlement of the Syrian conflict,” adding that President Putin thanked Nazarbayev on “the great contribution of the Kazakh partners for holding an international meeting on Syria on January 23-24 in Astana.”

For his part, the Kazakh President reiterated the need to reach a political settlement to the crisis in Syria, expressing readiness to provide all support required in this regard.
