Information Minister: Working on developing media discourse and opening new specialized channels

Damascus, SANA – Information Minister Mohammad Ramez Tourjman discussed with Resident Coordinator of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Damascus Ali al-Zaatari means to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the humanitarian and development issues.

During the meeting, the Minister affirmed the importance of building the capabilities of the media staff through training courses to keep up with important issues, adding that the Information Ministry has put a plan that will be implemented from the beginning of 2017 in cooperation with civil, humanitarian, and international organizations to focus on the issues of childhood and women, in addition to opening new specialized channels for children and economy and developing a number of programs related to youths and women.

Tourjman underlined the need to develop the media discourse, affirming that Syria will return stronger than it was and will remain the country of peace and love.

For his part, al-Zaatari asserted the importance of cooperation and coordination with the Information Ministry to implement special media programs and campaigns that involve the social, economic, and humanitarian sectors which would consequently contribute to addressing the negative aspects that emerged due to the current crisis.

He considered that dealing with these aspects requires rallying all efforts and working on returning displaced people to their homes after establishing security and stability.
