Moscow, SANA – The Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said that the operations carried out by the US-led international alliance in Syria are “unacceptable because they are not carried out in accordance with the Syrian government acceptance or the authorization of the UN Security Council.
Bogdanov told journalists on Tuesday that in Syria we participate in the counterterrorism operation upon the request of the legitimate Syrian government, but our partners carry out this task according to their own decision.
He pointed out that Russia does not oppose the operations carried out by the alliance in Mosul or any other Iraqi city if they were carried out upon a call from the legitimate authorities in Baghdad, pointing out that the difference between the Russian military operation taken place in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Army in Aleppo and the US-Led alliance’s operation in Mosul lies in the basis of these two operations, which become possible in either a UNSC decision or a call from the legitimate government of each of these two countries.
