Lattakia, SANA – A medical delegation from Russia on Saturday met with the administration of Tishreen University Hospital in Lattakia, discussing means to procure the hospital’s needs of medicine and equipment, particularly cancer medication, anesthetics, nutrients, and plasma separators in light of the unjust sanctions imposed on Syria for more than five years.
During the meeting, Chairman of Russia’s Council for Civil Society and Human Rights Mikhail Fedotov stressed the need for uniting efforts to deal with the ramifications of the sanctions that pose threats to human rights and violate them as they prevent hospitals from procuring medicine and equipment.
Fedotov said that helping Syria must be the goal of everyone with a conscience because Syria is fighting terrorists, and that this is why Russia is supporting Syria.
In turn, representative of Russian charities Dr. Elizaveta Petrovna said that they want to know the needs of hospitals, what help they can offer, and how they can cooperate with charities and organizations, adding that the delegation will work to procure the needed medicine and equipment.
For his part, Lattakia Governor Ibrahim Khedr al-Salem lauded Russia’s position and its support for Syria.
The delegation members toured the hospital, inspecting the medical services it provides and its needs, and they were briefed by the medical staff on the services and treatments provided there, in addition to presenting aid consisting of food items and supplements to patients and gifts to children being treated there.
