Syrian poet Samer al-Khatib wins third place at HAMSA Festival of Literature and Arts in Egypt

Damascus, SANA – The Syrian poet Samer Mahmoud al-Khatib won the third place in a literary contest for acrostic poetry at HAMSA Festival of Literature and Arts that was recently held in Egypt.

The festival, which was organized by the Egyptian HAMSA magazine, included competitions in all kinds of poetry, short story, long story, script, monologue, painting and photography.

In a statement to SANA, al-Khatib said his participation in this international festival, just as all his other participations, came to represent the culture, civilization, creativity and innovation of Syria, adding that the Syrian people are creative and have the ability to make brillian acts and artistic works out of their suffering.

He noted that a special ceremony for giving awards to the winners will be held on September 30 in Cairo, expressing regret that he will not be able to attend the ceremony to receive his award for personal reasons.
