Hasaka Governor, UNICEF representative discuss means of enhancing cooperation

Hasaka, SANA – Hasaka Governor Mohammad Za’al al-Ali discussed with the resident representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Syria Hanna Singer means of enhancing cooperation in the fields of education, health, and water.

The Governor hailed the efforts exerted by the organization to alleviate the suffering of the people of Hasaka from the repercussions of the terrorist war waged against Syria.

Al-Ali pointed out to the necessity of enhancing cooperation with the organization, especially in the field of the schools of which 160 were affected by the terrorist atacks, in addition to the medical clinics of which 40 sustained significant damage, and the water projects in the countryside areas which contain about 1,000 wells, most of them having been damaged by terrorism.

The Governor called on Singer to visit the areas in which stability and security were restored and to help restore services to these areas.

For her part, Singer highlighted the significant progress achieved during the current year in providing services to the citizens in the fields of education, health, and water, clarifying that the organization’s plan in the field of education for this year includes rehabilitating 51 schools in the province and providing 42,000 bags for the students.

She pointed out that the joint projects last year contributed to providing different services to the water projects from which 180,000 inhabitants benefited.

Later, Singer inspected schools in Tal Hmeis and its countryside, clarifying that the curriculum B dedicated to the students who were deprived from learning during the past years is a real achievement, affirming that the target which the organization seeks is for the curriculum to reach 500,000 students in Syria.
