Damascus, SANA-Chairman of the General Sports Union Mwaffaq Jom’aa discussed with chairman and members of the Iraqi Athletes Union in Syria bilateral relations in the field of sports.
The two sides discussed the possibility of Iraqi athletes’ participation in the Syrian teams and clubs, with the Iraqi side thanking the Syrian leadership and people for embracing Iraqi sportsmen and athletes.
The Union members said Syria is the target of a major conspiracy intended to undermine and destabilize it.
Jom’aa, for his part, said Syria has managed to defeat the conspiracy thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrian people and the support of friends, highlighting the deep relations binding Syria and Iraq.
He also called for enforcing bilateral agreements between Syria and Iraq, urging cooperation in all fields of sports.
